Humble Beginnings

The seeds of Byars Thompson Buchanan were planted in 1972 by Joel Byars, Sr. and Jo-Ann Byars, who established a Farmers Insurance agency from the ground up. Serving only Santa Maria consumers initially, the couple gained wide spread trust throughout the Central Coast.

The firm has since evolved into a full-service agency with policyholders throughout the state. Although the agency continues to grow, we feel strongly about our ties to the local community. We take pride in our “small town” service and our personal relationships with our clients.
